  • I had such an awesome Friday night!

I went to see....... THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

at the Orange County Performing Arts Center

This is the second time I have the opportunity to see this musical, the first time I saw it was about nine years ago. Yesterday's performance was FANTASTIC! Simply brilliant.

Now that I am in a musical mood, I can't wait to go see Wicked next. I think I am going sometime in June.

  • St. Teresa of Jesus (Avila)
I love this video & song so much. The song is in Portuguese, but knowing Spanish helped me undertand the lyrics.
    Alma Esponsal by Celina Borges

    Guardando o castelo do Rei

    Canta minh’alma esponsal, minh’alma feliz
    Canta minh’alma esponsal
    Minh’alma feliz

  • Merry Christmas

This Christmas I was blessed by being able to go to the Midnight Mass at St. Michael’s Abbey with the Norbertine Fraters and Fathers. The few times that I have been there it has never been disappointing; the Mass was as beautiful and touching as always. This Mass for me was particularly special, for not only was I thanking God for the gift of His son to the world, but also for the gift or vocation that He has given the many great men at the Abbey. As many of you know our friend (Mark) and others that I personally know (Yousef, and Ernie) were among the five new novices. Earlier on the morning of Dec. 24th they received in a private Mass their awesome white habit and their new religious names. By midnight their family and friends were finally able to see them. As the Mass started all the fraters processed from the back of the chapel and soon I saw my three friends, this was my first glimpse at them as novices. This was also a very emotional moment; I had to hold back tears of happiness. They all look so angelic in their Norbertine habit as they processed up to the alter of the Lord. Simply beautiful. I wish you could all go visit them at the abbey soon! For those who are wondering what their new names are, here you have them:

Frater Josemaria, formerly known as Mark
Frater Daniel, formerly known as Yousef
Frater Vianney, Formely known as Ernie

And Frater Albert and Frater Joachim, I think.

I am so excited for all of them as they commence a new step in their discernment. Please keep them all in your prayers!

If you wish to write to them or go visit them, here is the address:

    St. Michael’s Abbey
    19292 El Toro Road
    Silverado, CA 92676 – 9710

    Merry Christmas Season to all!!!

  • I feel very *happy*.

These past years have been somewhat difficult for me because I faced many obstacles and barriers along the way that have put a stop to many things I wanted to do. It has really been a struggle because it has delayed my graduation including putting a halt to looking into entering a religious community, but I can't share details here. My future seem so uncertain. But, this week a beacon of light has shun through and I can see a bit of what lies ahead and this makes me so happy. I finally have something concrete to look forward to and I am so excited! I finally have a sense of direction and I think this is what I've been needing a lot. On the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe I, once again, changed my major to Microbiology. God has open the doors for me to go down this path, so for the next few years I will be focusing on my career with the hope of graduating with Summa cum Laude- I know my parents will be so proud, but especially my heavenly parents God & Mary, I am offering up my career to them. How about my vocation? Well it seems, and is almost certain to me, that this is not in God's plan for me, at least not yet, but I do continue to be open to the vocation if God so desires to call me later.

I know that many of you won't understand why this means so much to me, nevertheless I wanted to share a bit of my happiness here. For all of you who have been praying for me, thank you so much! May God reward you double.

Now, like my Microbiology professor says: Microbes rule!! hehe.
